The 4th Puro.earth Ecosystem Meeting was held virtually on March 30th, 2021. It was an exciting event with an stellar lineup of stakeholders who push forward the emerging carbon removal industry.

The only way to reach Net-Zero is to reduce emissions and then remove the remaining CO2, so stimulating carbon removals to gigaton scale is imperative. This time we focused on the needed transition from pioneer buyers to a world where carbon removal suppliers get capital from financiers and investors to scale. 

Pioneer buyers who have purchased early carbon removals at high prices, such as Shopify and Microsoft, have acted in a double role as buyers and investors, pushing forward growth in an nascent industry that lacks funding. However, in order for global scaling to happen, investment must be normalized. Capital must come from banks and equity investors the same way it flows into other industries.
