Eligibility Manager

Puro.earth, a forerunner as a carbon removal crediting program, is on the lookout for Eligibility Managers (1-2 positions). Eligibility Managers assist carbon removal projects in preparing for 3rd-party audits by reviewing their audit documentation, thereby contributing to the necessary due diligence of some of the most exciting solutions for permanent carbon removal. 
 
This role offers a unique opportunity for experts in the field of carbon removal to work on a diversity of carbon removal methods and real-world projects currently being deployed across the globe, thereby having a direct effect on climate action. 
 
While primarily focused on operations, this position also offers opportunities to contribute to the continuous development of the Puro Certification journey. The role is at the interface between Puro's Science, Certification and Frontline teams; hence requiring a diversity of skillset, engineering, environmental and financial knowledge, and cross-thematic thinking. 

Responsibilities 

• Compliance checks: perform reviews on technical submissions (pre-eligibility and eligibility checks) and provide feedback to potential CO2 Removal Suppliers aiming to certify their activities under the Puro Standard. The processes are cross-functional and involve resources from multiple teams that are trained and capable of using the digital tools provided. 
• Certification tools and data templates: maintain, develop, and improve the tools and templates used during the certification process, ensuring continuous alignment with the Puro Standard, efficiency and scalability of the certification process, and integration with new digital tools. 
• Knowledge diffusion from Science to Operations: understand existing and new methodologies produced by the Science team, interpret and implement rules for daily operations in the Certification Office, and produce training and guidance material for Frontline teams, Puro Partners, Suppliers and other stakeholders. 

Qualifications and skills 

• Strong analytical skills, with an aptitude for both work in autonomy and in collaboration with others 
• Proven expertise in process and tool development, ideally within the Voluntary Carbon Market or other similar certification schemes 
• Proven expertise in advanced spreadsheet calculations is a must, while basics in programming is welcome 
• Background in engineering, environmental science, or carbon accounting are a plus. 
• Domain knowledge or work experience in biomass technologies, energy technologies, sustainability reporting, finance or economy, are a plus. 
• Writing skills (specifically for technical review documents) and oral communication skills (specifically for training) in English language. 
• Proactive and initiative-taking mindsets, for continuous learning and improvement

Reporting Structure 

This role reports to the Head of Eligibility Services.
